You are allowed to practice on Volunteers but you must make them aware that you are a student, whether or not they ask. You are not allowed to claim that you are a qualified, accredited Hypnotherapist. It is necessary to have the correct insurance cover. Generally, student’s do not charge fees for practice sessions but can invite the volunteer to make a donation.
Studying is personal and different for everyone but as a guide you would need to do about 120 hours of guided learning and a total of 450 hours to complete the course. Most people start initally doing 2-3 hours per week and increase to however many hours suits them. Practical practice is also advised to get the best results from the course. Study time includes watching Webinars, going through each Module, completing the relevant home study coursework (if you want accreditation), reading, researching, practicing.
Usually most people have got their volunteers from Facebook. Just letting all your friends know that you are offering sessions for FREE is normally enough to get some people interested. Some people also offer free sessions through their local Community papers or websites. Also, you can practice with other students, either via SKYPE, Facetime or meeting up. Take a look at the Members Map in the Members area for details of other students.
